Digging 4 Gold

On my way to interview Joni Haastrup and felt it fitting to post this all-time Afro-funk classic form his 1979 album, Wake Up Your Mind. Turns out that while I was half-way around the world trying to track down various African musicians, one of the very best was living in my own back yard - a wonderful surprise.

FYI, Joni’s first two LPs with his band, MonoMono, as well as his solo Masterpiece Wake Up Your Mind have been reissued by Soundway Records and are highly recommended. Also, he’s begun to perform again so keep a lookout for any upcoming shows.  

And I Promise, as soon as I get back I will upload a nice lil’ treat for y’all in our continuing 45 days of music… promise.
